The American Bach Society is pleased to support scholars and performers at every stage of their career by offering a variety of awards, grants, prizes and fellowships.
We seek to expand recognition of good work in the field of Bach studies by encouraging applications from those pursuing non-traditional topics and from new voices in the field. Please share your passion for Bach research with us!

Biennial Meeting Travel Grant
Bach research is supported by the Frances Alford Brokaw Grant (for undergraduate students); the German-Language Study Grant (for graduate students); the William H. Scheide Research Grant (from $2,000 to $10,000); and the ABS Wolff Research Fellowship (from $10,000 to $50,000).
The ABS Diversity Grant (open to all) supports scholarly or creative projects that
expand diversity. The William H. Scheide Prize recognizes excellence in publication; the Ruth Monte Memorial Bach Competition, centered on Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier, is for high-school-age pianists; and the Bach Vocal Competition for American Singers recognizes emerging vocal artists. Biennial Meeting Travel Grants are available to members and students who have little or no financial support.
